Contemporary Worship Praise Team
Under the direction of Shane Longmire the praise team leads upbeat contemporary Christian songs. Drums, guitar, and piano accompany the time of praise and worship at 9 a.m. in the informal chapel.
Traditional Worship Praise Team
The "10:30 Praise Team" leads out in praise songs and hymns at the beginning of each traditional 10:30 service. Rehearsal time is 9:30 AM on Sundays. New members would be most welcome. If you are interested in praising God through music with us, please contact Terri Koch at 529.6101.
Chancel Choir
In a time when traditional choirs are a dying breed, Pioneer’s chancel choir continues to provide vital, high quality anthems for the 10:30 service. Director Ronda Gabbard is a music teacher in the Walla Walla School District and has vast experience with music in worship. Every section of the group has leaders with trained voices, which helps others with less training pick their parts. The group rehearses at 7 p.m. on Wednesday evenings, except for the summer. Anyone who loves to sing and can carry a tune is welcome.
Women’s Ensemble
Several times each year, the Women’s Ensemble provides special music for the 9 and 10:30 services. Some of the group’s members are part of the chancel choir and some are not. The group often rehearses on Sunday evenings. Linda Howell, a retired music teacher, is director.
Handbell Choir
The hand bell choir provides a special flavor to music ministry at Pioneer. It shares its musical gifts several times each year with those who worship at 10:30. The ethereal sound of their ringing often draws worshippers into a unique sense of God’s presence. The group rehearses on Monday evenings under the direction of Linda Howell.
