Missions Opportunities

Missionaries

We are in covenant relationship with two overseas missions.

David and Lori Persons are working in the Republic of Congo and run the Mulungwishi

Mission which provides nutritional programs for children and adults, as well as, a Bible

College to train pastors for the area.

The Rev. Paul Jeffrey is a General Board of Global Ministries missionary who writes about

the work of the church around the world for Response, the magazine of United Methodist

Women. Paul also provides coverage of emergencies for Action by Churches Together

(ACT), the Geneva-based network of church disaster agencies.

One Great Hour of Sharing

Through United Methodist congregations, One Great Hour of Sharing is a primary funding

source of UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) , which does not receive

denominational apportionment or World Service funds. UMCOR is the agency that, in behalf

of The United Methodist Church, brings hope and aid when catastrophe strikes anywhere in

the world.  The One Great Hour of Sharing is held in March.

Multi-Cultural Festival

Pioneer participates in the community multi-cultural festival each summer.  People man a

booth to sell donated items to raise money for missions projects.  Last year, $400 was

raised for an infant nutrition program in the Republic of Congo.

CROP Walk

CROP Walk is neighbors walking together to take a stand against hunger in our world.

Together we raise awareness and funds for international relief and development, as well as

local hunger-fighting.  This is an annual event which takes place each October.
